Mid-Lent meditation organ recital
Organist J. Curtis Brown will present his second annual organ recital for Mid-Lent meditation at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, March 18, 2011 (Mid-Lent) at historic New Life Episcopal Church in Uniontown. The program includes quieter organ works by J. S. Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, Johannes Brahms, Camille Saint-Saens, Sigfrid Karg-Elert, Edward Elgar, Healey Willan, Helmut Walcha, Jean Langlais, Gordon Young and Dale Wood. A reception will follow the recital.
In addition to duties as organist/choirmaster at New Life, Brown, one of the senior organists in the region, is a teacher of piano and organ and studied at Oberlin and Baldwin-Wallace conservatories as well as with the faculty from the University of Akron in his high school years. He makes his home in the Highland Square neighborhood of Akron.
